As follow-up to the Office of Medical Assistance (OMAP) briefing presented February 24 at the Medical Assistance Advisory Committee meeting, PCPA representatives spoke with Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services staff to clarify some points.
- The limit of six prescriptions per month includes behavioral health medications as well as those for physical health.
- Managed care co-pays are not applicable to behavioral health managed care organizations.
- Psychiatrist visits in private offices, not those in psychiatric clinics, are included in the 18 visit annual limit.
- Medication checks in psychiatric clinics are not included in the five hours per month visit limitation.
Further clarifications are anticipated as the budget process continues.
