DPW Provides Guidance to Residential Providers

July 5, 2006

The Department of Public Welfare (DPW) has held the first of several meetings with Residential Treatment Facility (RTF) providers to review the process and standards applicable to Medicaid (MA) funded RTF services. Guidance was provided by senior children’s bureau and licensing staff from the Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, as well as senior staff from the Office of Children, Youth and Families (OCYF), the Office of Medical Assistance Programs, and the department’s MA realignment consultant. The meeting was held in preparation for consultation visits by DPW to each RTF program that became Medicaid eligible through the realignment initiative. Additional regional meetings are planned for autumn and will involve county administrators, CASSP coordinators, managed care organizations, DPW regional staff, and local RTF agencies.

In addition to active question and answer opportunities, there were presentations on key areas of compliance and a review of survey tools being used by the DPW team that will be visiting programs. Copies of the presentations and handouts have been made available to PCPA. Members may contact Connell O’Brien for copies of the following documents and presentation materials:
