The Departments of Education and Public Welfare have announced the addition of three locations for upcoming partial hospital forums:
- Schuylkill County (Intermediate Unit [IU] 29),
- Philadelphia County (IU 26), and
- McKean, Potter, Cameron, and Elk Counties (IU 9)
have been added to the schedule. There is now a forum location in nearly every community.
The departments are holding forums across the commonwealth to inform school districts, providers, county and regional mental health staff, CASSP coordinators, and parents and advocates of proposed changes to the education of children and youth in partial hospitalization programs. These forums are being hosted by Intermediate Units. The forums are to provide awareness of:
- The commitment of the departments to improve education services to children in partial hospital programs via proposing changes to the Public School Code and new guidelines for department regulations of children’s partial hospital services,
- To gather feedback and suggestions from the field through discussion groups on the positive and negative implications of these changes, and
- To incorporate this feedback in the development of new policy for these programs.

Registration
Forum registration is available online at www.pattan.net.
Click on 2006 Partial Hospitalization Forums in the What’s
New Section on the home page. On the 2006 Partial Hospitalization Forums
page, click on the start date of the session/location you wish to
attend. Please note locations as some sessions are being held at sites other
than the main Intermediate Unit office. On the Intermediate Unit site page,
select "Register." If this is the first time to register for an
event through CourseWhere, select "Create Account" and proceed to
Registration.
Register for the forum at the Intermediate Unit whose service area is where your agency provides services. If there is more than one participant from the organization attending and the organization represents more than one IU area, please consider splitting up attendance. All participants must register for these events.
