Attached is the latest draft of the Notice of Final Rulemaking for the elimination of the physical exam requirement for D&A Outpatient services. Also attached are several additional pieces of correspondence regarding this issue.
As members well know, PCPA has been working hard to get this requirement eliminated for several years. The Association has been lobbying for a waiver until such time as the regulations are final and that waiver has been denied at this time (see December 26, 2000 letter from Secretary Houstoun.) The Association will continue to work to see that this unnecessary and costly barrier is eliminated as soon as possible. It appears that will happen sometime in the summer of 2001.
