PCPA is in the process of developing a new position paper on the Substance Abuse and Mental Health systems administration in Pennsylvania. The last position paper developed by PCPA on this issue was in 1995. The systems/programs have undergone significant changes over the last seven years. These systems changes, along with the upcoming changes in administration, lead PCPA to conclude that the time is right to provide some recommendations for major change and improvement.
In April 2002 a work group of PCPA members was organized to develop this position paper. The group included D&A, MH, and MISA members. The draft paper was sent to both the D&A and the MH Committees for input, presented to the Executive Committee, and discussed at the July Board Meeting.
The Board of Directors will be providing final approval of this position paper at the September 18 Meeting. Please review the draft and submit any comments you have in writing no later than September 9. If you have any questions contact Lynn Cooper at the Association.
