Senate Bill (SB) 413 Would Fund Substance Abuse Education

December 14, 2001

Sen. Jake Corman (R-Centre) introduced SB 413, which would create a Substance Abuse Education and Demand Reduction Fund. Monies for the fund would be garnered from various DUI and drug convictions (with the fine varying depending on frequency and degree of offense). The fund would benefit drug and alcohol education, prevention and treatment initiatives throughout the Commonwealth. SB 413 passed the Senate December 12 and now moves to the House for consideration.

PCPA has discussed its interest in this bill with Sen. Corman's office, and will meet with him and his staff in January to discuss future collaborative efforts.
