PCPA is pleased to inform members that the House version (House Bill 1649) of the dedicated alcohol tax initiative passed the House this afternoon unanimously. Today’s passage from the House is a major achievement in making this legislation law…and reality.
Special Thanks
Thanks go to the PCPA members who have taken the time to contact their representatives in the past two years regarding House Bill 1649.PCPA’s sincerest appreciation also extends to:
- Reps. Katie True (R-Lancaster) and Linda Bebko-Jones (D-Erie), prime sponsors of House Bill 1649.
- Rep. George T. Kenney, Jr. (R-Philadelphia), chair of the House Health and Human Services Committee for his support and leadership on House Bill 1649.
- Sens. Patricia H. Vance (R-Cumberland/York) and Jay Costa, Jr. (D-Allegheny), prime sponsors of Senate Bill 727 (the Senate version of the dedicated alcohol tax legislation), who have also voiced support of this legislation within the House chamber.
- Legislative staff Mark Ryan, chief of staff to Vance and Stacy Gromlich, former House Health and Human Services Committee staff, for their hard work and dedication in making this bill a reality.
