Public Hearing Dates for Block Grant Pilot Counties

As reported in the September 26 PCPA Legislative Alert, Block Grant Pilot Counties Announced,participation in the Human Services Block Grant Pilot Program was limited to 20 counties. The following counties were approved: Allegheny, Beaver, Berks, Bucks, Butler, Centre, Chester, Crawford, Dauphin, Delaware, Erie, Franklin, Fulton, Greene, Lancaster, Lehigh, Luzerne, Tioga, Venango, and Wayne. These counties are required to submit detailed plans to the Department of Public Welfare regarding how block grant funds will be allocated.

Counties are required to hold two public hearings prior to submission of the plan. Many counties have scheduled those. PCPA urges members to attend the hearings and, if possible, provide input. It is essential that pilot counties be held accountable to maintain access to crucial safety net services. Scheduled dates are below. The location and other details should be available on individual county web sites.

PCPA is working in coalition with other concerned organizations to ensure that impact of the pilots is determined, particularly on access to behavioral health and intellectual disability services.
