The Silent Auction occurs in Exhibit Hall at the PCPA Annual Conference at Seven Springs – it begins Tuesday and closes Wednesday during the ice cream social. All winners will be announced at the Thursday Awards Luncheon.
Participate in the Political Process: Donate an Item to the Silent Auction!
It is less than two months from Election Day and the news continues to report the following:
- Direct economic impacts on consumers.
- Soaring healthcare costs.
- Continued changes to national programs.
- Decisions on whether this election is a vote for the status quo (politics as usual) or is a resounding message for change…and if change is the outcry, what change? What does that translate to for us?
Through all of this many may ask – how can we bring a focus to matters of significance within our industry of mental health/mental retardation/drug and alcohol? While the Pennsylvania Community Providers Political Action Committee (PCP PAC) is currently a state-focused PAC, events and politics at the national level have direct impacts and effects on similar situations at the state level. In turn, state matters directly impact local planning efforts, providers’ services and capabilities, and availability and access for clients and persons in recovery that the system serves.
It is the goal of the PCP PAC, through its fifth annual Silent Auction, to develop and continue innovative methods to raise PAC funds. A successful auction allows the PAC to make contributions to legislative friends and supporters throughout the year. Items should initially be priced at approximately 20 percent below retail value. The goal is to receive bids in excess of the retail value (sometimes double) for the item, as all proceeds go towards a worthy cause.
If you or your agency/organization would like to donate an item(s) to the Silent Auction, please contact Melissa DiSanto Simmons, director of legislative affairs, by September 22. A contribution form is attached, with more details.
History has shown PCPA that the most successful items are those indigenous to cities, counties, or regions of the state (i.e., wines, chocolates, sports tickets, quilts, etc.); donated by businesses in member areas or vendors with whom members work; or autographed by athletes, artists, entertainers, etc. to whom members have connections.
