A coalition of advocates, providers, and state agency representatives has formed a work group to develop educational information and outreach for implementation of Act 194 of 2004 (House Bill 2036, Printer’s Number 4779), regarding mental health declarations and powers of attorney. Part of this process is the development of a question and answer document that will assist consumers to develop advance directives and/or appoint powers of attorney, and will help others to understand the requirements and options available under the act. In order to accomplish this task, the work group is soliciting suggestions for questions from various constituencies. PCPA is asking its members to submit questions that they have developed for inclusion in a frequently asked questions document. Please submit questions to Betty Simmonds by January 20. A copy of the act is available through the PCPA Legislative Affairs page, then the Legislative Tracking tool to find HB 2036.
