PCPA, through its participation in the Veritus (a Medicare Fiscal Intermediary) Provider Communication (PCOM) Advisory Committee, has been asked to share the following information to PCPA members who utilize Veritus Medicare Services as their Fiscal Intermediary. These members would be Hospital Outpatient Departments or Community Mental Health Centers.
According to Program Memorandum (PM) A-02-129, released on January 3, changes are being made to the Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS) used by Medicare. As these changes are made throughout the year, Veritus will share the changes in OPPS with the provider community via Provider Organization meetings in which the providers represented are impacted. In addition, information will be shared at upcoming PCOM Advisory group meetings, of which PCPA is a member.
A training guide and PowerPoint presentation was created for use by the Fiscal Intermediaries, however PCPA members may find the information useful. These documents are available from the corresponding links above.
PCPA will inform members of any changes announced at PCOM Advisory group meetings. If members have questions about OPPS, they are encouraged to contact Rebecca May Cole at the Association, who will bring the questions to the PCOM meetings.
