OMHSAS Postpones Online Consumer Satisfaction Survey

August 2, 2005

In a May 31 Info, PCPA relayed the request of the Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (OMHSAS) for mental health services provider members to permit consumers and family members of child and adolescent consumers to use available computers with Internet access to complete the Community Mental Health Services Block Grant Consumer Satisfaction Survey for 2005. Due to technical difficulties OMHSAS has had to postpone implementation of the online consumer/family member satisfaction survey.

The survey was to be available from August 1 — September 15 for a selected random sample of consumers and family members of consumers who received mental health services between July 1, 2003 and June 30, 2004 to complete online. The survey will now be available from August 22 — September 30. Consumers and family members will be able to make changes to their survey responses throughout the window of availability. Randomly selected consumers and family members should have received a letter sent during the last week of July, notifying them of the link to the survey and a randomly assigned account number and password to allow access.

The URL is www.humanservices.state.pa.us/DIG_Survey. OMHSAS will not replace the password or account number if they are lost, as they are randomly assigned, and no records are kept in order to maintain anonymity. The letter provides a list of clubhouses and drop-in centers and suggests that their mental health services provider or the local library may also be resources for Internet access to complete the survey. Questions can be addressed to Ms. Vicky Stirkey at 717-705-8198 or toll-free to 877-356-5355. OMHSAS has indicated that a help button will be available on the web site that will link to general information and to Frequently Asked Questions, in addition to listing the above telephone numbers.
