The deadline for submission of applications for the Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (OMHSAS) Peer Specialist Training and Technical Assistance Initiative has been extended until July 31. OMHSAS expects to offer eight regional training sessions for up to 20 peers at each session. OMHSAS received only seven applications by the original July 13 deadline, some of which were from single counties. OMHSAS intended for several counties to join together in applying for and holding training sessions. Single counties and counties already served as part of the pilot project that would like to be considered for this training initiative should submit applications by July 31, indicating the number of individuals that they would like to receive training. OMHSAS will attempt to schedule individuals based upon the geographic location of identified training sites. A description of the initiative and the application were previously distributed in a June 7 PCPA Info, Peer Support Training and Technical Assistance Available, that can be accessed through the Mental Health Archives on the PCPA web site.
Interested providers are encouraged to work with counties to apply for training opportunities. County representatives are urged to contact Karen Morton at OMHSAS (kmorton@state.pa.us or 717-346-0752) with questions or to submit applications.
