Autism ASERT RFP Available

February 19, 2008

The Bureau of Autism Services has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for Autism Service, Education, Research, and Training (ASERT) Regional Centers. The bureau, with the support of the Tuscarora Intermediate Unit, seeks applications from consortia with an academic base to develop three ASERT regional centers to link research, diagnostic, and intervention practices. Successful bidders will receive a $1.1 million grant in year one and $500,000 in year two, based upon bureau funding and the center’s performance in year one.

Contact the Bureau of Autism Services to request a copy of the RFP at RA-ASERT@state.pa.us or via fax at 717-265-7761. Include in the request: full name, mailing address, email address, daytime telephone number, and area of interest such as educational institution, health care provider, governmental agency, non-profit organization, parent, or self-advocate. Email requests should include "ASERT RFP REQUEST" in the subject line. The addresses of requestors will be used to notify them of any changes to the RFP and provide notification of the awards. Please indicate whether the RFP should be sent via email or regular mail. A confirmation of receipt of the request for the RFP will be sent within 48 hours of receipt.

Proposals must be submitted by March 28. Funders will complete review of the submissions by the end of April. Awards are to be granted June 1 with immediate implementation. The overall grant is for a 24-month period as described above.
