Response to the Back the PAC competition has been so strong that the deadline for contributions has been extended to January to allow additional time for members to make donations and qualify for the valuable prizes that will be awarded. PCPA staff obtained a Casio personal digital assistant (aka Palm Pilot) and 500 free calling minutes as the prizes for two of the winning committee's members (to be chosen by a drawing).
Over $1700 has been raised for the PAC during the competition. Awareness of the PAC and its importance was greatly increased, also. As of November 14, the Government Relations Committee was the clear leader in the competition, with a per capita contribution to the PAC that was over three times that of the second place committee. The top four committees and their per capita donations as of November 14 are
GRC $51.02
Board $16.02
MH $15.97
MR $12.13
PCPA initiated the Back the PAC competition in September to generate contributions to the Association's Political Advisory Committee. Members were encouraged to make donations to the PAC in the name of their favorite committee(s), and the committee with the highest per capita contribution would be eligible for prizes to be awarded at the PCPA November Board meeting.
In a spirit of generosity and to take advantage of the momentum generated by the Back the PAC competition, the GR Committee has agreed to extend the competition to the January PCPA meetings. This will allow other committees to attempt to catch up to the GRC and to qualify for the prize drawing. The winning (so far) Government Relations Committee was not entirely left out in November, however, and was treated with cookies at its meeting.
Back the PAC materials will be mailed to all members following the November meetings. For questions about the Back the PAC competition, contact Lu Conser or Sacha Brunner at the PCPA office.
