Governor Schweiker has signed into law House Bill 2256, therefore reducing the number of credits required for the grandfathering provision of licensure for clinical social workers, professional counselors, and marriage and family therapists. The bill, to be known as Act 177 of 2002, has decreased the number of credits from 36 to 30 credit hours for masters' degree programs. The deadline to apply for licensure by grandfathering remains February 19, 2003.
Individuals interested in applying for licensure may contact the State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists and Professional Counselors (www.dos.state.pa.us) for applications, or may access the applications from the links below.
