The Pennsylvania Community Providers Association Board of Directors unanimously passed a resolution in 1995 to establish an annual award in honor of Marilyn Mennis. Although best known for her work around the development of a continuum of care for children, Mennis was a tireless advocate for developing quality services for all persons with special needs. A board member, association president, and leader in children’s issues at PCPA, Ms. Mennis brought the same drive and passion to her work with colleagues. Her memory and commitment to children and families is embodied in this award.
The association is currently seeking nominations for presentation of the 2006 award. The Marilyn Mennis Memorial Award is presented in October each year during the association’s annual conference at Seven Springs Mountain Resort. Agencies and individuals may nominate an individual or creative program that reflects Marilyn's qualities of dedication, caring, leadership, and advocacy on behalf of Pennsylvania’s children with special needs and their families.
The nomination form must be completed to provide necessary information on each nominee. All nominations must be received by June 16. Nomination forms should be marked to the attention of Connell O’Brien and may be mailed, faxed, or sent electronically to:
