Mrozowski to Join OMHSAS Staff

June 19, 2003

Joan Erney, Deputy Secretary for the Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (OMHSAS) has announced that she has asked Stan Mrozowski to join the OMHSAS staff to provide leadership for the Children’s Bureau. Mrozowski is expected to join OMHSAS in early July 2003 in an interim position until the formal establishment of the Children’s Bureau.

Mrozowski has been the Children’s Policy Specialist for PCPA since December 2001. Prior to that, he was CEO of Keystone Children and Family Services, a multi-service children’s agency in central Pennsylvania. He was the Administrator of the Dauphin County MH/MR Program for nearly 17 years, and served on numerous statewide children’s service committees. He earned a PhD in Public Administration from Penn State University in 2001.

The establishment of the Children’s Bureau has been a major goal of Deputy Secretary Erney. This bureau will have responsibility for consolidating OMHSAS children’s service activities and for leading the development of a system of care for children with serious emotional and behavioral needs.

Mrozowski expressed appreciation to PCPA for the opportunity to work with provider agencies on children’s issues. He indicated that he is excited to have the opportunity to advance the cause of children at the state level. PCPA Executive Director George Kimes said, “PCPA will miss Stan but looks forward to working closely with him in his new position.” Plans for handling children’s issues at PCPA following Mrozowski’s departure will be announced in the near future.
