The Collapse of Pennsylvania’s Outpatient Clinics Available
June 24, 2010

Outpatient treatment in Pennsylvania is at risk of collapse. PCPA held an outpatient summit in 2009 and has now prepared a white paper. The paper highlights the value of outpatient services; outlines specific clinical, regulatory, and financial challenges; and makes recommendations for changes needed in each area.

PCPA will be reach out to stakeholders through distribution of the paper and meetings to advocate for continued support for these vital services. It is in the interest of all stakeholders – individuals, family members, service providers, county systems, and state government – to come together to face these challenges and protect Pennsylvania’s mental health and substance use disorder outpatient service delivery system.

The white paper will be distributed to Mental Health/Mental Retardation administrators, Single County Authorities, behavioral health–managed care organizations and oversight bodies, Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, Bureau of Drug and Alcohol Programs, the legislature, recovery organizations and other statewide groups. A copy of the paper can be accessed via this link as a PDF download. Questions should be directed to Lynn Cooper at the association.
