PCPA Seeks Nominations for Raymond R. Webb, Jr. Government Relations Award

July 29, 2004

PCPA is pleased to announce that it is again seeking nominations for the Raymond R. Webb, Jr. Government Relations Award, which is presented to the recipient(s) at the Association’s Annual Conference in October at Seven Springs Mountain Resort.

Through this award the Association achieves its objective of recognizing someone (outside of PCPA staff) who has demonstrated a commitment to values and issues in the legislative/government arena consistent with the mission and/or goals of PCPA. The individual can be a legislator, government official, active friend or supporter of PCPA issues, or a member of the Association. The 2003 recipients – Rep. Gene DiGirolamo (R-Bucks) and Rep. Linda Bebko-Jones (D-Erie) – were recognized for demonstrating a commitment to having drug and alcohol funding and program issues addressed by the fegislature.

The mental health/mental retardation/drug and alcohol (MH/MR/D&A) system has experienced challenging times these past several years. Nonetheless, it has also seen the restoration of D&A and MH dollars in the 2003-04 state budget, as well as the addition of a 2% cost-of-living-allowance for MH/MR/D&A in the 2004-05 state budget. The Association and membership are cognizant that numerous individuals have not only stood with us, but for us, on these issues – and they continue to do so.

Please take a moment and consider completing the attached nomination form – it can either be emailed or faxed (717-657-3552) to Melissa DiSanto Simmons, Director of Legislative Affairs.

Thank you for your participation. Please remit all nominations to Ms. Simmons no later than August 20.
