ODP Training in Functional Behavioral Assessment and Plan Development
February 26, 2009

The Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) Bureau of Autism Services, in conjunction with the Bureau of Supports for People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, is offering a two-day Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) and plan development training for staff that provide support for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and Autism Spectrum Disorders. The training will focus on assessment and intervention for challenging behaviors using a FBA and the development of a treatment or behavior support plan that can be used across settings.  Conducting a FBA will be required by Adult Community Autism Program (ACAP) providers and is recommended as part of the service description for behavioral services in the autism waiver.

Trainings are March 19 and April 16 at the Child Welfare Training Center in Mechanicsburg. Participants must be present for both full days in order to receive a certificate of completion and/or to apply for continuing education credits. There is no charge for the training and the registration deadline is March 17. Participants working with adults are expected to have previously viewed the “Autism 101” training on the ODP consulting web site at www.odpconsulting.org, select "Streaming Events," then "Autism Part 1" and "Autism Part 2."
