State Offers Adolescent Co-occurring Training
September 5, 2008

The Departments of Health and Public Welfare are seeking professionals to participate in a training of trainers to assist clinicians addressing the unique challenges of integrating assessment and treatment approaches to meet the needs of youth with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders in a variety of clinical settings.  This training will promote the transfer of evidence-based and promising practices that support integrated treatment interventions to frontline clinicians across the state.

Twenty-five selected professionals with previous training experience as well as expertise in treating the adolescent population with mental health disorders, substance use disorders, or co-occurring disorders will be selected for this opportunity. Qualified participants will be jointly selected by the departments.  Individuals selected to participate will be notified in writing by the Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services approximately one month prior to the training. All trainers will enroll in a 12-credit web-based prerequisite course prior to attending the two-day training.  All trainers will be required to provide, at a minimum, four local co-occurring trainings per year upon completion of this curriculum.

The two day training is November 19 – 20, at the Holiday Inn in Grantville, Pennsylvania. Attendance on both days is required.

Application for Consideration: The application deadline is September 19.
