BHRS Provider Guidance from OMHSAS
January 14, 2015

In response to questions communicated to the Children’s Bureau by providers, the Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (OMHSAS) has developed a one-page flyer. The flyer provides guidance to Behavioral Health and Rehabilitation Service (BHRS) programs that may plan to relocate site-based services or make other changes. The document also includes steps to take to update OMHSAS files and avoid billing issues.

Some frequently asked questions addressed are:

  • I plan to move or add a new site; when should I notify the Children’s Bureau;
  • I plan on making changes to an approved service description, do I need to notify the Children’s Bureau;
  • What is considered a substantial change to an approved service description; and
  • I have a new service location in PROMISe but cannot bill for BHRS – how do I fix this?
