Children’s Behavioral Health Call for Change
May 5, 2010

The Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (OMHSAS) Bureau of Children’s Services has released the first public draft of the Call for Change, a strategic plan for the continued transformation of the children’s behavioral health system in Pennsylvania.  This draft will be reviewed with the OMHSAS Children’s Advisory Committee on May 5; the first step in the process of public review and refinement.  Many individuals and organizations, including PCPA, provided input during the process of developing the current draft.

The Call for Change grew out of OMHSAS’ analysis of the multi-stakeholder initiatives and children’s services improvements achieved over the past seven years. OMHSAS sought the direct input of key stakeholders.Tthe document also incorporates findings from a review of the literature on the state-of-the-art in children’s behavioral health services. Please send comments on this draft to Connell O’Brien. PCPA will continue to provide input to OMHSAS and report on future development to members.
