Children’s Interagency Conference: Hold the Date/Call for Presentations
October 2, 2008

The Twentieth Children’s Interagency Training Conference is May 5-8, 2009, at the Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel, State College, with the theme “Involving is Solving…The Changing Focus of Children’s Behavioral Health.” The conference will spotlight improvements, adjustments, and implementation of new ideas that are transforming the Pennsylvania children’s behavioral health system to one that celebrates family voice and choice, youth guidance, and natural supports. Sponsored in the past by the former PA CASSP Training and Technical Assistance Institute, the conference is now sponsored by the Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services in partnership with the Youth and Family Training Institute at the University of Pittsburgh.

The Youth and Family Training Institute invites proposals for presentations for the 2009 conference on such topics as school based behavioral health, early childhood mental health, youth suicide prevention, evidence-based and promising practices, trauma informed care, family and youth engagement, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, and Reactive Attachment Disorder. Presentations in these areas will receive priority consideration if they demonstrate efforts in family voice and choice, youth involvement/guidance, and natural supports.

To submit a proposal, please review the call for workshops at www.wpic.pitt.edu/oerp/yfticonf/ and download the Workshop Proposal Form. Workshop and poster session proposals should be submitted via email to Kyessa L. Brian (briankl@upmc.edu). Questions regarding proposals can be addressed by email to Ms. Brian or by calling 412-802-6905. The deadline for presentation proposals is October 31.
