FASD Clinical Practice Consortium
January 20, 2009

The Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Task Force, under the coordination of the Bureau of Drug and Alcohol Programs, has begun to implement the state FASD plan. As part of this plan, PCPA will work with the federal FASD Center of Excellence and the PCPA FASD Service Development Work Group to create an FASD Clinical Practice Consortium. This consortium of mental health, substance abuse treatment, health care providers, researchers, and other professionals will exchange information about promising practices in child, adolescent, and adult FASD-related assessment, treatment, and family supports. The plan calls for this group to regularly exchange information and hold conference calls to discuss experiences and findings from their work.

In the initial phase of the FASD Clinical Practice Consortium, PCPA and the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics have come together to create a child- and family-centered FASD Clinical Practice Consortium. Members interested in participating may contact Connell O’Brien.
