SAMHSA Webinar: FASD Treatment Protocol
September 3, 2014

September marks the 15th anniversary of International Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) Awareness Day. The first FASD Awareness Day in 1999 alerted people to the importance of abstinence from alcohol during pregnancy and the need to provide effective services for individuals and families affected by these disorders. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) will hold a special free webinar on the new Treatment Improvement Protocol (TIP) Addressing Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (TIP 58). TIP 58 is the first entry in the series to address FASD prevention and intervention directly.

This webinar is on FASD Awareness Day, September 9, 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. It will provide:

  • An overview of the TIP series and TIP development process,
  • Specific content of TIP 58 (including the "basics" of FASD), and
  • Guidance on how to use the TIP as a staff development tool in various settings.

Registration is not required. Learn more about the webinar and other resources at the FASD Centers of Excellence.
