Fagen Appointed Director of Youth and Family Training Institute

The University of Pittsburgh, the Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, and the Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services have announced that Ms. Shannon Fagan has been appointed as director of the Youth and Family Training Institute. For the past 10 years Ms. Fagan has been the CASSP Coordinator in Westmoreland County and a member of PCPA and the Children’s Committee. Fagan earned the Master of Science degree in child development/child care at the School of Social Work, University of Pittsburgh, and has extensive experience in family counseling, foster care, and early intervention.

The Youth and Family Training Institute is the next stage in Pennsylvania’s commitment to transforming the children’s behavioral health system, building upon the CASSP principles. The institute will provide the foundation for Pennsylvania to move toward family driven and youth guided care through High Fidelity Wraparound.

Under the direction of Laurie Jones; Ken Nash, MD; and Stan Mrozowski, PhD; Fagan will be responsible for the start-up and implementation of the institute. Her primary office will be located in Mechanicsburg with a secondary office at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic. Fagan will attend the March Children’s Committee meeting in her new role as director of the institute.
