Support the Juvenile Justice System Integration Enhancement Strategy
April 22, 2011

The Juvenile Court Judges Commission (JCJC) has embarked on a major initiative to move Pennsylvania’s juvenile justice services, programs, and policies toward a more integrated, evidence-based, and data driven system. The first step in this process has been the development of The Statement of Purpose for Pennsylvania’s Juvenile Justice System Enhancement Strategy, noted below.

Statement of Purpose
We dedicate ourselves to working in partnership to enhance the capacity of Pennsylvania’s juvenile justice system to achieve its balanced and restorative justice mission by:

  • Employing evidence-based practices, with fidelity, at every state of the juvenile justice process;
  • Collecting and analyzing the data necessary to measure the results of these effort; and, with this knowledge,
  • Striving to continuously improve the quality of our decisions, services and programs.

Endorse the Statement of Purpose
PCPA members and staff have collaborated on the development of this strategic effort with the JCJC and the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD). The Statement of Purpose has been endorsed by the JCJC, Juvenile Court Section of the Pennsylvania Conference of State Trial Judges, Council of Chief Juvenile Probation Officers, and the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Committee of PCCD.

PCPA is moving to be counted among those organizations that endorse the Statement of Purpose. The association is asking member agencies to endorse this statement. Those willing should affirm that endorsement by sending email to Connell O’Brien by May 23. JCJC intends to document and recognize all endorsing organizations and agencies.
