Is MATP for Summer Programs Working?
July 3, 2008

Each year PCPA hears of operational and service challenges related to the Medical Assistance Transportation Program (MATP) for clients participating in Summer Therapeutic programs across the state. The association is attempting to gauge the extent of this situation as well as learn about communities where MATP is working. If you are providing summer therapeutic programming for children and adolescents that uses MATP, please let PCPA know what problems you have encountered with MATP. Problems may include such issues as:

  • Lack of services,
  • Failure to pick up clients,
  • Delays in transporting clients,
  • Events that place clients at risk (late drop off, poorly prepared drivers, crisis during transport),
  • Parent complaints to your agency, and
  • Significant fiscal and clinical interruptions related to poor MATP services.

Conversely, if you are in a community where MATP is effectively serving clients and supporting the delivery of summer therapeutic programming, let PCPA know about that too. Please send information about problems and/or success stories to Connell O’Brien.
