Members Invited to Pilot Mandated Reporter Training for Licensed Professionals
September 22, 2014

RCPA has worked with the Department of Public Welfare (DPW) Office of Children, Youth and Families and the Child Welfare Resource Center (CWRC) in the development and implementation of the required mandated reporter training. Licensed professionals working at member organizations are invited to participate in the DPW-CWRC pilot of the state’s on-line training. This web-based training is designed to meet the new Child Protective Services Law requirement for three hours of mandated reporter training and documentation of training for individuals holding a professional license. Individuals applying for a professional license or license renewal in social work; nursing; medicine; psychiatry; psychology; marriage and family therapy; professional counseling; occupational, physical, and speech therapy; and other categories of professional health and human services licensing are required to complete an approved mandated reporter training.

Licensed individuals who wish to participate in the training pilot must:

  • Email Kathy Williams at the CWRC (kaw35@pitt.edu),
  • Note “Pilot Mandated Reporting Online Training” in the subject line of the email, and
  • Send the email indicating interest in participation in the pilot by October 14.

Individuals will be contacted with information allowing them to participate in the pilot training, which will be available from November 3 – 7. Participation in pilot testing of the online mandated reporter training will be accepted by professional licensing boards as meeting the training requirements for licensure and license renewal. RCPA is pleased to be working with DPW and the CWRC as part of the implementation team.
