DPW Restraint Reduction Tool Kit

The Department of Public Welfare (DPW) has released a restraint reduction tool kit developed for providers. This collection of key bulletins and tip sheets has also been provided to DPW staff. Two trainings with the Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services; Office of Children, Youth and Families; and the Bureau of Program Integrity to review the protocol for no prone implementation have also been conducted. The training included a demonstration of various holds, a discussion on how each restraint event is unique, and the importance of assessing the totality of what happened in each critical incident. DPW leadership also met with the Department of Health to share the tool kit documents and content of the training.
