School-Based Behavioral Health Grant
July 13, 2010

The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) has informed schools of the availability of the School-Based Behavioral Health performance grant for the 2010/11 school year. Again this year the performance grant is designed to support the establishment or advancement of a three-tiered decision-making framework that guides selection, integration, and implementation of the best evidence-based practices for improving behavior outcomes for students.  Increasingly, the use of the School Wide Positive Behavior Support model has been a key element of successful projects. Grant applications may be submitted by schools, approved private schools, intermediate units, or charter schools. The grant application calls for schools to work in partnership with community mental health provider agencies.

Up to $42,000 will be awarded on a competitive basis. PDE will hold an informational webinar July 30 from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. Participants will need to register in advance at www.pattan.net.  Upon registering, participants will be sent the URL and the technical requirements for accessing the webinar. The deadline for grant application submissions is August 27. Specific information, including the expanded request for proposals and grant application, may be accessed on the "What's New?" section of the PaTTAN behavior home page. Community mental health providers are encouraged to contact and partner with local schools in exploring and developing grant applications.
