PDE Announces School Mental Health Performance Grants
June 23, 2008

The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) has announced that applications for School Based Behavioral Health Performance Grants are now open for the 2008/09 school year. Grant applications must be submitted by public schools, Charter Schools, Intermediate Units, or Approved Private Schools. Successful applications include partnerships between the school and one or more behavioral health providers.

The grant of up to $45,000 supports the establishment or improvement of school based behavioral health services. The grant is designed to support the development of a continuum of behavioral health services within the school environment that focus on universal prevention, strategic intervention and intensive service delivery, and crisis management. Members should consider working with their local education agency to consider supporting their application for this grant.

Specific information, including the expanded request for proposals and grant application may be accessed at www.pattan.net/teachlead/Behavior.aspx. Grants will be awarded on a competitive basis with funds up to $45,000 per site in the 2008/09 school year. An informational video conference will be held July 11 from 9:00 - 11:30 a.m. at each of the PaTTAN offices. The deadline for grant applications is August 8.
