OMHSAS Forms Transition Age Youth Work Group
April 25, 2013

The Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (OMHSAS), in collaboration with the Mental Health Planning Council Children’s Advisory Committee, is developing a statewide work group to more closely examine the needs and system challenges facing transition age youth and young adults.  The purpose is to continue to build upon the innovative services and supports being developed across the commonwealth and explore possible opportunities for system-wide replication. Transition age youth and young adults face issues, concerns, and needs that do not always fit neatly into the adult or children’s behavioral health systems. Several counties, behavioral health managed care organizations, and community providers are implementing various pilots for this population with significant success.

OMHSAS is recruiting family, transition age youth, young adults, provider agency staff, family members, and county and managed care representatives for the work group. Interested individuals should contact Doris Arena, OMHSAS transition specialist (darena@pa.gov or 717-772-7685).
