Alliance for Youth Seeks 100 Best Communities
October 5, 2006

The Alliance for Youth is inviting Drug Free Community grantees and other community groups in Pennsylvania to be considered for national and statewide recognition for the work they do in support of young people. The goal of the America’s Promise program is to:

  • Bring national and local media attention to community efforts,
  • Help outstanding local programs get the attention they deserve to support long-term success, and
  • Help communities learn creative ideas through active information sharing.

The Bureau of Drug and Alcohol Programs and PCPA is encouraging Drug Free Community grantees and other interested community groups to apply for consideration as one of Pennsylvania’s – and the nation’s – 100 best communities for young people.

The 2007 100 Best Communities for Young People application is available at www.americaspromise.org/100Best. Applications are due November 3. A support team at America's Promise will provide assistance, answer questions, and help communities complete applications. Should winners be selected from Pennsylvania, America's Promise will work with them to honor their efforts in national, state, and local media and at a national celebration in October 2007.

This and other information of importance to PCPA members is available on the association web site. Staff of PCPA member organizations without access to the "Members Only" section of the PCPA web site can request a password from the online request page at www.paproviders.org/Pages/requests.htm.
