March 4, 2010

Joan Erney, deputy secretary, Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (OMHSAS), announced today at the OMHSAS Advisory Committee Meeting that she will be leaving her position as of mid-May. Ms. Erney will join Community Care Behavioral Health Organization as the Chief Business Development Officer and will be the senior lead on public policy.

PCPA Executive Director George Kimes offered his congratulations to Ms Erney. Kimes commented that he was pleased that Ms. Erney would still be in the Pennsylvania system since her knowledge and understanding of the system is unsurpassed.  “Joan has been involved with the development of the behavioral health managed care system since its inception. She has a unique perspective that will benefit Community Care, but will also help the system continue to evolve in a positive direction.” Kimes further commented on Ms. Erney’s accomplishments as deputy secretary.  “She has been a firm advocate for consumers and has always worked to facilitate recovery and resiliency. PCPA is proud that Joan began her public policy work here at the association.”  Since Community Care is an associate member of PCPA, the association looks forward to continuing a positive relationship with Ms. Erney.
