OIG Reminder: August Brings Final Transition for Exclusions Changes
The Office of the Inspector General (OIG) is transitioning to an upgraded Online Exclusions Database and List of Excluded Individuals and Entities (LEIE) Downloadable Database. Since June, the OIG has made files available with the upgraded changes, e.g. National Provider Identifier (NPI), and without the new fields. In September only files with the new fields will be available. OIG strongly encourages users to download the entire LEIE database with the three new fields at least once during the transition period from June to August. The monthly supplement files only contain information about new exclusions or reinstatements that occurred in a single month, do not include NPI and waiver information prior to the June changes, and are archived for 12 months. The LEIE database contains current information on excluded individuals and entities. Instructional videos explaining how to use the online database and the downloadable files are available.
