National Council HIT Learning Community
November 20, 2012

The National Council for Behavioral Health is accepting applications for a six-month Health Information Technology (HIT) Learning Community that to help member behavioral health services providers develop a plan for implementation of an electronic health record (EHR) system. The learning community will assist key staff with understanding meaningful use, availability and eligibility for meaningful use incentives, and how to apply for and use incentive payments to develop meaningful HIT systems. By the end of the process, participants will have completed the foundation for EHR system selection and implementation. The learning community is recommended for mental health and/or substance use providers who have not implemented an EHR or are interested in replacing an inadequate system. More information and the application is available at http://www.thenationalcouncil.org/cs/learning_community. Applications must be received by December 5 to be considered.

Organizations must commit to organizational and clinical leadership of the process, provision of time and resources for staff participation in the learning community, participation in all six instructional webinars and completion of assigned work products, and payment of required fees, among other provisions. Questions may be addressed to Kirsten Reed at KirstenR@TheNationalCouncil.org or 202-684-7457, x234.
