The National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare (National Council) is accepting suggestions and workshop submissions for the 38th National Council Conference, scheduled May 1 – 3, 2008. The conference will be held in Boston, MA.

Suggestions for events, topics, and speakers should focus on the following areas:

• Cross system and community collaborations;
• Children and family services;
• Addictions treatment;
• Consumer integration, empowerment, and peer services;
• The business of behavioral health;
• Marketing and fundraising;
• Practice improvement;
• Information technology;
• Leadership and workforce development;
• Recruitment and retention;
• Board development, governance, and leadership;
• Organizational development; and
• Global initiatives.

While all National Council workshops, presentations, and speakers are by invitation only, a limited number of submissions will be given consideration. All workshop submissions are to include the following information:

• Working title for proposed 1.5 hour workshop,
• Workshop description (limit to 250 words),
• Learning objectives (bulleted list),
• Documented results,
• Sample "Tools You Can Use" that can immediately be put to work back at attendees’ organizations, and
• A summary of presenters' expertise, ability to engage participants, and credentials — including other conference presentations.

All proposals must be received by October 31 for consideration. For more information about conference submissions or suggestions or to prepare a submission, visit the National Council web site at www.thenationalcouncil.org/cs/call_for_papers.
