Providers Needed to Help Families of Deployed National Guard Members
April 29, 2005

The Pennsylvania National Guard would like to expand a Family Support Services Program that has been operated successfully by the Penn Foundation, Inc., to provide resources for families of soldiers who have been deployed to combat zones. The Penn Foundation, Inc., has provided free-of-charge leadership for support groups and meeting space; clinical services for family members at no cost to the family member, only billing insurance but requiring no co-payment; and direct contact with two senior clinicians for family members to assure immediate response to needs. While Penn Foundation, Inc., has offered these services to a local National Guard Unit other providers may be interested in offering similar or other services. Providers are needed statewide, but particularly in the following areas: Allentown-Lehigh Valley, Scranton-Wilkes-Barre, and Pittsburgh. Providers interested in participating in this community service project should contact Karen Kern (kkern@pennfoundation.org) for more information.
