ONC Seeks Comment on Personal Health Records
November 10, 2010

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) requests public comment on issues related to personal health records (PHR) by December 10. The ONC developed questions related to four themes:
1. Privacy, Security, and Emerging Technologies;
2. Consumer Expectations about Collection and Use of Health Information;
3. Privacy and Security Requirements for Non-covered Entities; and
4. Any other Comments on PHRs and Non-covered Entities.

Comments are invited through the ONC web site. Links are available to submit comments and view those that were submitted related to each theme.

An ONC PHR Roundtable – Personal Health Records, Understanding the Evolving Landscape  – on December 3 is “designed to inform ONC’s Congressionally mandated report on privacy and security requirements for non-Covered Entities (non-CEs), with a focus on personal health records (PHRs) and related service providers (Section 13424 of the HITECH Act).”  Participation is now available by webcast, with registration through the ONC web site.
