OSP Establishes Six Community Resource Centers
April 2, 2003

The Office of Social Programs has established six Community Resource Centers (CRCs) as a single point of entry for services for persons with physical disabilities. There is no county equivalent to the MH/MR county programs for management of these services. The grantees are:

  • Three Rivers Center for Independent Living (TRCIL), Northwest and Southwest Regions;
  • Lycoming/Clinton Joinder board - North Central Region;
  • Allied Services - Northeast Region;
  • Jewish Employment & Vocational Service (JEVS) - Southeast Region; and
  • United Disabilities Services (UDS) - South Central Region.

These centers are intended to be a more consumer friendly service system for people with physical disabilities. The CRCs are to help assure choice in providers of attendant care through recruitment of qualified providers. Consumers will choose which providers they wish to use.

The CRCs will utilize the Home and Community Services Information System (HCSIS), which is already used by the Office of Mental Retardation and by providers of MR services and supports. When fully implemented, HCSIS will be used by the CRCs for consumer registration for services, management of supports coordination, provider registration, waiver monitoring, incident management and a Services and Supports Directory.
