Free Physician Disaster Preparedness Program
March 10, 2008

The Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services provided PCPA with the following information and requested that it be distributed to psychiatrists and other physicians affiliated with members. The Physician/Government Partnership in Disaster Care is March 15 from 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the Pennsylvania Medical Society, 777 East Park Drive, Harrisburg, PA 17111. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. The program is free and offers 5.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Continental breakfast and lunch are included. It is endorsed by the Pennsylvania Psychiatric Society and sponsored by Dauphin County Medical Society, Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare, and the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

  • Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response: An Overview of Federal, State, and Local Emergency Systems - Michael Allswede, DO, residency training director, Osteopathic Emergency Medicine Residency Program, Conemaugh Medical Center, Johnstown, PA
  • Mock Disaster Drill (A tabletop exercise) - John P. Bart, DO, public health physician, Pennsylvania Department of Health, Bureau of Community Health Systems, and Mary E. Diamond, DO, medical director, Pennsylvania Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services
