Pennsylvania Awarded $3 Million in SIM Grant
December 19, 2014

The commonwealth received a communication from Center for Medicaid Services (CMS) indicating that Pennsylvania is the recipient of a second model design grant for $3 million. The grant begins February 1, 2015.

The State Innovation Models (SIM) Initiative Model Design Awards will provide financial and technical support to awardees for their planning and design efforts. In planning and designing their proposals, states must, among other things, develop multi-payer payment and service delivery models and engage a broad range of stakeholders.

Model Design Award recipients will engage a diverse group of stakeholders, including public and commercial payers, providers and consumers, to develop a state health care innovation plan. States receiving awards will have twelve months to submit their state health care innovation plans to CMS.

The commonwealth had been notified early this month that the grant proposal submitted previously for a larger state health care innovation project was not funded. For further information contact Lynn Cooper or Sarah Eyster.
