MATP Instructions and Requirements New Edition Released
March 13, 2001

The Department of Public Welfare, Office of Social Programs has just released the revised Medical Assistance Transportation Program (MATP) Instructions and Requirements. A copy of the document has been sent to the PCPA membership for review. Additional copies are available by contacting the Association. Members can also access the list of MATP County Contacts for local assistance on MATP issues.

MATP services are available to Medical Assistance clients, including HealthChoices clients, who are in need of transportation to a Medical Assistance compensable service for the purpose of receiving treatment, medical evaluation or purchasing of prescription drugs or medical equipment.

As you will note, the recently released copy is dated July 2000. Revisions to this edition are already underway. PCPA has been part of a statewide work group responsible for making recommendations for revisions. As you review the document please note any ideas for improving the MATP initiative and send them to Lynn Cooper as soon as possible.

Of particular note in the document is Attachment V, which is entitled Quality of Service and Client Sensitivity.

Questions can be directed to Lynn Cooper.
