Provider Training on National Codes Available Now
September 19, 2005

The Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (OMHSAS) has informed PCPA that a PA PROMISe™ Provider Conference Call Training for behavioral health related providers was presented on September 16 with limited participation. The Department of Public Welfare provided an overview of changes scheduled to occur on October 1, with the implementation of national codes. This call will be repeated on Wednesday, September 21 at 1:00 p.m. for those that could not attend the September 16 teleconference. It is extremely important for behavioral health services providers to understand the procedure code changes. The teleconference can accommodate only 100 participants per session, so it is important to dial in on time. The dial-in number is 866-600-3468 with the pass code 241478.

OMHSAS urges providers to send questions prior to the session. Questions may be emailed to promise@state.pa.us or submitted by telephone to PA PROMISe™ Training at 717-975-5418. They have also requested feedback on the national code implementation schedule, how providers are preparing, and what type of assistance is needed to make the transition easier? (The September 8 Medical Assistance Bulletin, Medical Assistance Program Fee Schedule Procedure Code Changes for Behavioral Health Services is available on the PCPA web site in the Members Only section.) Please submit this feedback to Betty Simmonds at betty@paproviders.org or by telephone to 717-657-7078 by September 23. Concerns and preparations for implementation may also be presented with questions to the PA PROMISe™ training contacts listed above.

Providers can also address specific questions to the Behavioral Health Toll-Free Line at 800-433-4459.
