PCPA Launches Medicaid Expansion Campaign

On March 20 the PCPA Board of Directors voted to support the expansion of Medicaid in Pennsylvania. Despite the many benefits to the citizens of the commonwealth, the governor remains undecided about the expansion. PCPA has developed a social media campaign to promote Medicaid expansion with elected officials and voters. Beginning today and culminating with PCPA/PARF Capitol Day on June 5, PCPA will share information regarding the expansion on the association’s Facebook page and through its Twitter account. Members are encouraged to re-share the information on their organization’s social media sites and personal social media sites.

Members are encouraged to contact legislators regarding the expansion. While in-person communication is always best, a contact sheet with links to legislators web sites, email addresses, Facebook pages, and Twitter accounts can be accessed here. Sample messages to share with legislators via Facebook and Twitter can be accessed here.

A number of social media graphics have been developed for use:

Organization Facebook Cover Photo

  • Post on member organization’s Facebook page.

Individual Facebook Cover Photo

  • Post of staff member’s personal Facebook page.
  • “Share” with friends and ask them to post it on their pages.

I Support the Expansion of Medicaid” Poster

  • Take a photo holding the poster and post on your Facebook page or Twitter account.
  • Post the photo to the PCPA Facebook page or Twitter account.
  • Ask your legislator to pose for a photo holding the poster.


  • Use this custom hashtag in all posts during the campaign.
