IDD Updates - Week of February 18, 2013
February 20, 2013

Earlier this week you should have received a letter and request from ODP regarding completion of the “ODP Supported Employment Supplement Survey”. Please take a few minutes to respond to assist ODP in its efforts to address employment for persons with intellectual disability. If you did not receive the survey, and would like to participate contact Diane Cashman (dcashman@pa.gov).

The Bureau of Human Services Licensing sent a reminder that the new procedures for Self-Inspection for Increased Capacity does not apply to ICF/ID programs.

ODP has reissued Announcement #008-13: Mileage Rate Change Effective 01/01/13; Transportation mile reimbursement rate for procedure code W-7271 has been changed to $0.565 per mile. SCOs need to complete revisions in ISPs that contain this service.

A reminder to PCPA SCOs to share your recommendations with me (linda@paproviders.org) regarding possible revisions to the ISP and the ISP Employment Supplement. We will be sharing these with ODP.

March 19 committee agendas and details are out today, please remember to RSVP.

As a member of the Offices of Developmental Programs and Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODP/OMHSAS) joint initiative on dual diagnosis, Linda Drummond met with ODP staff to discuss not only the implementation of the curricula which is currently being piloted by the HCQUs, but also what additional supports ODP can offer to direct service providers and supports coordinators when addressing the needs of individuals with intellectual disability and mental health concerns. Marlinda Smith is ODP’s Dual Diagnosis Lead and is requesting your participation on a time-limited focus group to look at barriers and possible options. She shares the following.

“Solutions are difficult to define and undertake without your input as a provider as to the individuals you serve or have served who have intellectual/developmental disabilities and mental illness. The concerns and needs you must address are important to me as the ODP lead on this initiative. It is my hope you will volunteer to participate in a time-limited focus group. Please submit your interest or if you have additional questions to marlsmith@pa.gov with a copy to Linda Drummond (linda@paproviders.org).” Thank you for your consideration of this request and your expertise and advice on this issue.
