  • Announcement #025-11: Year 3 Administrative Entity Desk Review Debrief Town Hall. Not all AEs have registered for this March 11 web conference. Registration available at https://mmc.webex.com/mmc/onstage/g.php?p=159&t=m.
  • Ebensburg and Selinsgrove State Center development courses released for March. Course curriculum is available at www.odpconsulting.net.
  • Announcement #032-11: Checklist for AE Review and Approval of ISPs. Webcast available and required training for supports coordinators, SC supervisors, and Administrative Entities.
  • Announcement #033-11: ISP Checklist for AE Review and Approval of ISPs AE Feedback Survey Now Available. Voluntary survey for AEs to compete as an individual or group response. The survey is available until May 13.
  • Announcement #034-11: Calculation Tool Overview for VF/EA FMS and Updated PDS FMS Webcast. Training for supports coordinators and supervisors on participant-directed services financial management services. 

US Senate Hearing on Employment of People with Intellectual Disabilities was held on March 2. Testimony and archived videos are posted at http://help.senate.gov/hearings.  

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services held a special open door forum March 1 addressing US Departments of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Living Partnership to expand housing options for people with disabilities, including older adults. The audio recording and transcript will be posted to the Special Open Door Forum web site beginning April 1, at http://cms.gov/OpenDoorForums/05_ODF_SpecialODF.asp. The forum provided information on the community living collaboration and its six initiatives as well as linking long-term services and supports with HUD’s vouchers for persons with disabilities.

The Assets for Independence (AFI) Resource Center, a federal program under HHS and the Administration for Children and Families, provides five-year grants to nonprofit organizations and government agencies to provide Individual Development Accounts (IDAs) and related supportive services for low-income individuals and families. Participants use IDAs to accumulate funds for acquiring a first home, post-secondary education, or starting a small business. Applications are due March 31 and May 25. Boston College’s National Resource Center for Participant-Directed Services (NRCPDS) is hosting its biennial Financial Management Services Conference November 14 - 15 in Baltimore. The conference will feature workshops with participant-direction tax experts from the IRS and other financial management services specialists and experts.
